On November 16, 2023, the Banco Central de Nicaragua (BCN) announced the issuance of enhanced 50- and 200-córdoba banknotes.

The same designs of the previous polymer banknote issues have been preserved, but certain improvements have been incorporated, taking into account advances in technology.

The enhanced 50-córdoba banknote contains a new tactile element that facilitates identification for people with visual disabilities: 12 dots placed in 4 columns of 3 dots each, located on the lower right side of the obverse and on the lower left side of the reverse of the banknote. Additionally an iridescent band has been added to the reverse of the banknote that, when tilted, reflects the denomination. This new banknote carries the date "24 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2021" (24.11.2021).

The enhanced 200-córdoba banknote contains a new tactile element that facilitates identification for people with visual disabilities: 18 dots placed in 3 groups with 6 dots each, located on the lower right side of the obverse and on the lower left side of the reverse of the banknote. Additionally an iridescent band has been added to the reverse of the banknote that, when tilted, reflects the denomination. This new banknote carries the date "26 DE ENERO DE 2022" (26.01.2022).

Additionally:
- The series (the letters preceding the serial number digits) has changed from A to AA.
- The font used for the serial number on the left has changed. The new font type is OCR-B, which is also used on the euro banknotes. The font used for the ascending serial number on the right is the same.
- The signatories on the updated banknotes remain the same as do the other security features.
- The sizes of the updated banknotes remain the same.

The 50- and 200-córdoba banknotes currently in circulation retain their validity. They will continue to circulate alongside these new banknotes until they are replaced, gradually, according to their deterioration.

Tactile marks have already been added to the 5-, 10-, 20- and 500-córdoba denominations, reported here:
